I am Black, Queer, gender fluid, and of Igbo Nigerian and European heritage. I reside on Anishinaabeg ancestral lands of the Ojibwe, Ottawa, and Potawatomi, now known as Detroit, Michigan.
My approach is rooted in Somatic Experiencing for trauma response completion, and the discharge, renegotiation and transformation of trauma to create growth in confidence and resilience. With the use of Imagery, Animal Imagery, and Internal Family Systems we can explore your nervous system and parts of yourself to better understand your experiences. We can use resources that best fit your needs by pulling from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or Expressive Therapy.
Focus Areas: Racial and Cultural Identity, Bicultural/Multicultural Stress, Racial Trauma, Impacts of Colorism, Systemic Oppression, Ableism, Intergenerational/Childhood Trauma, Emotional Neglect/Abuse, Physical/Sexual Abuse, Intimate Violence, Anxiety, Depression, Isolation/Avoidance, Grief/Loss, Parenting/Attachment, School Issues, Life Purpose, Spirituality, Resilience/Ease, Safety, Self/Community Care, Holistic Health
With LGBTQIA2SP+ communities I use an affirming approach for exploring gender, sexuality, relationships, and gendered experiences. My approach is influenced by social justice and anti-racist perspectives to guide my practice and hold space for multiplicity, intersecting identities, intersectional feminism and contradictions that make us human.
With children and families I use Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Play Therapy, Sandtray, Art Therapy and Family Therapy that is emotion-focused, trauma-informed, mindfulness-based, strengths-based, and person-centered. My approach is influenced by Attachment Theory and Infant Mental Health.
I look forward to getting to know you and experience where our connection leads.
