Therapy Approaches

My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and attachment-oriented. I primarily use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and draw from EMDR, Written Exposure Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and CBT-I, adapting these approaches to your needs.

I approach therapy through an anti-oppressive lens, which means paying attention to how power, systems, and lived experience influence what brings you to therapy. Besides seeing clients for therapy, I also provide clinical supervision to limited licensed social workers.

I work with adults in individual therapy, couples, and relationship systems that include more than two people. My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and grounded in anti-oppressive, consent-based care.

I have specialized training in working with queer and gender-diverse people, individuals living with HIV and other chronic illnesses, and Veterans, and I am poly- and kink-affirming. I’m also open to working with families that include elders or minor children.

Much of my work focuses on trauma and moral injury, especially as these experiences show up for queer and gender-diverse people, first responders, military-affiliated individuals, and medical and mental health professionals and their families. I’m familiar with the impact of medical trauma on patients, loved ones, and providers involved in critical care.

In our work together, I intend to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and grounded in consent. I’m open about the power relations that exist in therapy and invite your feedback throughout the process. I want you to be involved in decisions that affect you, from how we work together to the documentation that I create. When something doesn’t land well, I believe that repair matters, and I take accountability seriously.

Clients often say I ask thoughtful questions and that my approach fosters a strong sense of security. That said, I may not be the best fit if you are only looking for a place to vent or aren’t open to change-oriented work.

Outside of therapy, I recharge by spending time with loved ones, hiking, playing games, cooking, and spending time with my dog.
