No matter why you are seeking therapy, our therapists are here to help.Â
At Transformative Therapy & Consultation Services, all of our therapists are person-centered. We see clients as people, unique human beings, to connect with, support, and guide towards healing, self-knowing and personal growth.
Our Approach
We didn’t need the research to know the truth, but more and more studies confirm that living within a marginalized identity has negative impacts on our overall well-being – mental health included! The reasons for this are complex and varied, often including overlapping systems of oppression from multiple marginalized identities. That’s why we aim to put first those who are often the last to be considered.
Our work draws on a range of evidence-based approaches, but at the heart of what we do is Affirmative Therapy. This approach honors and validates the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people — our identities, relationships, and communities. It actively addresses the harm caused by homophobia, transphobia, and heterosexism, while celebrating queerness across sexual and gender identities.
We also take a culturally responsive view of care. Your full identity matters here — gender, sexual orientation, race and ethnicity, spirituality or religion, finances, physical health, age, and relationship patterns all shape how life feels and how healing happens.
In therapy with us, you’re seen as a whole, layered human being — never just a diagnosis or a checklist of symptoms.
We know there is a lot of stigma associated with seeking therapy. Maybe even you, dear reader, believe therapy is something to be ashamed of. We do not believe this at all. We believe attending therapy takes strength and courage and is a powerful act of self-care and self-love. Therapy can be a place of healing, a place to learn skills, a place to share what is on your mind and heart with an objective, empathetic, and trained specialist – and so much more.
