About Us – Wild Ferns Wellness

Wild Ferns Wellness Center is located in a brick & mortar building in Lansing, MI and is a collaborative of diverse businesses, all which are Black, Indigenous & People of Color (BIPOC), LGBTQIA2S+ and ally owned & operated. All of service providers at Wild Ferns Wellness Center share the same values, to provide inclusive services which center and support the needs and voices of BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ clients & communities.

We know we are stronger working together than apart. Our businesses and service providers are stronger when they share the same values, support one another and utilize shared resources. Communities are stronger when they have inclusive, affirming & safe space to gather. Individuals benefit and are stronger from being able to receive unique services in a place where they can be more authentically their selves. Wild Ferns Wellness Center provides an affirming and safe space to those who enter.

The communities we aim to center experience numerous disparities compared to the general population. Our unique business model embraces collaboration, allowing businesses to remain autonomous and independent, while also remaining dedicated to offering accessible care to those most impacted by systemic racism, transphobia, homophobia, violence, and oppression because

With one-stop access to many services we aim to empower individuals to proactively participate in self-love while on the road to healing and self-discovery.

What do we mean when we say LGBTQIA2S+?

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual/Aromantic, Two Spirit, + and all other sexual/romantic orientations, alternative relational structures (such as consensual non-monogomy or relationship anarchy) and gender identities.

Special Message to Allies

Some of you may feel you should avoid scheduling services at Wild Ferns Wellness because you fear you will be taking up space not created for you. We disagree! We do not have space for homophobia, sexism, transphobia, racism, ableism, fatphobia, etc. but we do have plenty of space for allies and advocates! We believe strongly, when we center those who are marginalized everyone is served better. You belong here, too. Please build community with us and help us thrive. Book a service, tell your friends, come to community events and be part of the foundation of support for BIPOC, LGBTQIAS2+ and ally businesses & communities.

How we Started

Wild Ferns Wellness Center is co-founded by married couple Rahjah Evans, a black queer woman and Parker Curtis, a white transmasculine person. Rahjah and Parker, who both have experienced unsafe, incompetent care, dreamt of creating a welcoming, safe, inclusive wellness center. The couple began making their dream a reality in spring of 2021. After completing months of renovations and teaming up with some of the best service providers in Michigan, Wild Ferns Wellness opened its doors on March 1st, 2021.

Mission Statement:

Wild Ferns Wellness is a collaboration of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, Two Spirited (LGBTQIA2S+) and ally business owners, all who are working to increase access to holistic services for BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+ persons of other marginalized communities.

At Wild Ferns Wellness, our intention is to provide accessible trauma informed, inclusive wellness services which center the voices, and lived experiences of those most impacted by systemic violence and oppression.
